The Rocket Festival or people who lived in Thailand
know as “Bun Bang Fai” is an ancient local festival and it is the most popular
festival of Yasothon province, which is one province of northeastern of Thailand.
The rocket festival or Bun Bang Fai had ever been over around 400 – 500 years
ago that Yasothon’s people had been to hold continuously since the past until
at present. The rocket festival is an ancient tradition and beliefs in the
power of supernatural about god of rain, his named Payatan (พญาแถน)
that
can help had heavy rain in rainy season for farmers are ready to prepare
planting their rice, corn and vegetable. So all year people have to setup the
rocket festival for worship the god of rain or Phya Thaen.
The
rocket festival will occur on the second week of may, it’s the beginning of the
rainy season. The rocket festival is taken place at Phaya Thaen and has
beautiful parade about the rocket that many people decorated very beautiful and
delicate. In the rocket festival had many activities such as the competition of
parade’ rocket. The contest of Miss cool rocket. On this day have many
foreigner and traveler to participate in this Rocket festival.
